TEXT: Elementary Algebra, 6th Ed., Barnett & Kearns

CHAPTERS: 1.1 Þ 4.8; Daily coverage in schedule

HOMEWORK:

Assignments are listed on the schedule sheet.

Questions on homework will be answered in the beginning of the class period.

Homework will NOT normally be collected. If it is to be collected, prior notice will be given.

The later portion of the class period will be used to cover new material. If time permits, homework covering the new material may be worked on.

TESTS:

There will be five regular 100 point exams (about 20 problems each), and a 200 point comprehensive final exam (about 40 problems). NO makeup exams will be given! Instead, your lowest regular exam score will be dropped - if this is your final exam, 1/2 of it will be dropped.

If you miss a test, FOR ANY REASON, that will be considered your lowest test score.

The final exam must be taken in order to pass the class.

GRADING:

To obtain your score at any time, add up all your test scores (less the lowest one), and divide by the number of tests added.
Use the following scale to determine your letter grade.
Class attendance will be taken. It will be used to improve the grade of boarder line cases.

GRADE SCALE:

A Þ 95 - 100 C Þ 73 - < 77

A- Þ 90 - < 95 C- Þ 70 - < 73

B+ Þ 87 - < 90 D+ Þ 67 - < 70

B Þ 83 - < 87 D Þ 63 - <67

B- Þ 80 - < 83 D- Þ 60 - < 63

C+ Þ 77 - < 80 E Þ 0 - < 60
