To help students confront math anxiety and to learn coping strategies in order to be more successful in mathematics courses
Instructor comments: Studies show that a high percentage of students coming to college experience anxiety around their math requirements. In fact, some students will even choose their college major based on what the math requirements are (or are not!). It is our goal here at Everett Community College to help students address these anxiety issues and increase their math study skills. This class is an excellent way to comprehensively overcome your math anxiety. There are several of us in the counseling department that feel a passion for this class.
In addition, if students just cannot take the full 2 credit human development class, we offer short workshops (often in connection with the Rainier Learning Center) around math anxiety issues.
